Short History

The Nurni made first contact with the Vacods and have since then grown an alliance with them and reluctantly allowed other species to join in their alliance, though they kept their home planet under strict quarantine from outsiders, going as far as not allowing unauthorised vessels in their home system and hunting down those who do not leave.

Appearance

Nurni have gills above the clavicle bone, allowing for them to breathe underwater. They also have webbed hands with 4 fingers on each, as well as moist skin, similar to that of fish. They also have 2 thick prehensile tails.

Biology.

Nurni have a set of fully functioning lungs, which allows them to also breathe above water for as long as they stay hydrated. They also have specialised vocal cords that allow them to communicate over longer distances underwater without the aid of external devices.

Innate Abilities

Underwater breathing, and enhanced vision in darkness. 

Lifecycle

A typical Nurni female will lay roughly 500 to 1000 eggs in their lifetime. 

Before birth, Nurni are separated depending on their gender, as only 1 in every 1000 Nurni born are female. These females are taken special care of to ensure they do not die before they grow up. 

At age of 12, the male Nurni already get specialised training, and taught xeno biology and all the skills they might be required to thrive outside their home world. The female Nurni however, are kept on their own, and allowed to interact with others through strict supervision. They are taught basic skills, including how to self-medicate properly, as well as what responsibilities await them when they come of age.

At 17, the male Nurni are often ready to head out beyond their home system, and to keep it safe as well, filling multiple roles. 

At 18 however, the female Nurni start their life of responsibility to the future of their race, often immediately starting with providing eggs for future generations.

Any female Nurni found outside their home planet get forcibly brought back to their home planet, in order to return to their supposed life purpose.
